Samsung Galaxy S7
Samsung Galaxy S7 edge update

Good news for Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and S7 edge users. They are now getting an update on their device that brings Always On Screen. Now, an update newly gets out for both Smartphones and will bring a variety of other features too.

Beside the Always On feature, the update also brings a newly designed calendar onboard. The newly designed scheduler/calendar replaces the old two calendars on the devices. The size of the rolled out the update is 8MB, and it also introduces some changes to the clocks shown on the Always On display. Furthermore, these clocks will be highly customizable. Users will be able to add their signature to the screen in any font or color based on their choices. The Always On display is also compatible with the S-View cover and the Keyboard cover.

Always On display is often consider as a battery eating feature. However, the new update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge comes with optimized Always On display, which consumes less than one percent of the battery life every hour.It means that the user won’t need to stick with the charging point and then to support the feature. But, the battery consumption is relatively high on the kind of content that a user has on his/her smartphone.

For now, we do not know whether Samsung is rolling out in a phase-wise manner. Being an OTA update, we are expecting that it will take some time to reach all the devices. The update will most likely debut with the notification on your S7 or S7 edge, but if it does not then you can check for an update manually. Just go to your phone Settings > About Phone > Check for Update.
